(METHYLPYRIDAZINE PIPERIDINE PROPYLOXYPHENYL)ETHYLACETATE (also known as R78206 and ethyl 4-[3-[1-(6-methylpyridazin-3-yl)piperidin-4-yl]propoxy]benzoate) is an experimental small molecule antiviral compound. It has been studied for its ability to inhibit the uncoating of picornaviruses such as poliovirus and rhinovirus by binding into a hydrophobic pocket within the viral capsid protein VP1. This binding stabilizes the viral capsid and prevents receptor-mediated uncoating, thereby blocking infection[5][6]. The compound is classified chemically as a benzoic acid ester derivative[1]. Its primary indication in research has been for antiviral activity against enteroviruses.
